Inspiration: This painting represents a modernistic clash of historical architecture and abundance of opulence. The rich colors and sprinkled swarovski crystals and beads, sparkle and assume an eye candy appearance. The black swarovski crystals represent caviar and memories of opulent ways of celebrating life. Living in New Orleans has opened up incredible travel opportunities along the Gulf Coast. My recent exploratory road trip down the Florabama, yielded a kismet in the name of Alys Beach. This painting remixes my definition of treasure, depicting Faberge elements of Imperial Russia along with the landscapes and Moroccan inspired architecture of Alys Beach. Using sand collected from the Alys beach, and incorporating the beads and crystals to indicate the treasure find factor. The painting becomes a whimsical depiction of a place and a fantasy filled with bright color.
