Living in New Orleans has opened up incredible travel opportunities along the Gulf Coast. My recent exploratory road trip down the Florabama, yielded a kismet in the name of Alys Beach. This painting remixes my definition of treasure, depicting Faberge elements of Imperial Russia along with the landscapes and Moroccan inspired architecture of Alys Beach. Using sand collected from the Alys beach, and incorporating the beads and crystals to indicate the treasure find factor. The painting becomes a whimsical depiction of a place and a fantasy filled with bright color.
